Sure then let's send all the Irish immigrants AND their descendants living in America back to Ireland. Better yet, all the Irish everywhere. I guess NOBODY should immigrate from ANYWHERE and we can all live where we come from and be a fucked up segregated and racist world.

Im from cork being living in Canada now going on 10 years. I missed the influx of immigrants that arrived into Ireland. Theres around 4 million people in Ireland Rep and in Poland 40 million. Most Countrys have immigration policys, and i agree with the comment that why should there be a problem with anyone willing to make a living to live in any country, any irish person can go to Poland. The only thing is that people find it hard to except change reason being they dont know where it will go.

glenwold, please don't speak for the rest of us when you say thats how 'we' liked it. i think its great that cork is now a mulitcutural city. remember it wasnt so long ago that the irish were emigrating all over the world.

I spent over thirty years of my life in cork, where I was born in 1960. Back in the day the only foreigners in Cork were American and British tourists in the summer time and sailors from afar. That's how we liked it. Today thare are too many immigrants in Cork,

Also I dont think they are the biggest threat to Ireland and her peoples culture. I think that the Irish peoples indifference to Gaelic, the language that our ancestors fought so hard for and suffered to preserve, is one of the greatest tragedies befalling us right now. Not even 25% of the country can speak Gaelic fluently. I feel it is my birthright and duty to learn and speak Gaelic. Is it really the immigrants who are the threat to being Irish or is it Irish indifference to what's theirs?

I am of all Irish blood and was born in America and live there now. I plan on going to Ireland after school to work and live because i love Ireland, its people and culture so much. Its in my blood. So coming from an immigrant nation, immigration is good to an extent and is needed but just remember not to let the immigrants take the Irish out of Ireland. |
